About the event
This one and a half hour pottery session is ideal for those with zero experience who are keen to try out the potters wheel. In this 1 to 1 session with Tracy, you will be guided through the basics of wheel-throwing, where you will develop a sense of what it’s like to be a potter and create some beautifully unique pieces of pottery.
At the end of the session, you can pick two items that you’ve made. They will be trimmed, glazed and fired for you ready to be collected around 2 weeks later.
What you will learn:
Tracy will teach you the fundamentals of throwing on the potter's wheel, taking you through the process of how to centre your clay, open it up, pull up the walls and show you options of how to shape your piece.
What you will make:
Usually it will be a small tumbler, vase, bowl or planter. This is an introductory session so please don’t get frustrated if you don’t walk away with a perfect shape, pottery takes practice so relax and have fun with it.
What should I bring:
Please bring an apron or wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting messy. Make sure your nails are short if possible and bring a bobble to tie your hair back.
Please note, this is a private 1-1 session held at Alba-Bella Gallery in Blairgowrie with Tracy.
